Gonarezhou National Park meaning “the place of many elephants”is an extremely scenic Park full of rugged and beautiful landscapes.Alternative folklore suggests the are was named for the herbalists who would stock their medicines in tusks (known as gona in the Shona language). is Zimbabwe’s second largest National Park and is located in the south east of the country in a corner of Masvingo Province, south of Chimanimani along the Mozambique border.
Gonarezhou offers a unique wilderness experience. With an estimated 7000 elephants , Gonarezhou is the jewel in the crown of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a peace park that links Gonarezhou with A well-the Krueger National Park in South Africa and Limpopo National Park in Mozambique, and allows animals to roam freely between the three sanctuaries.
Guest activities on offer at Gonarezhou National Park are walking and fishing safaris and there is accommodation available on site in the form of bush camping.Three major rivers – The Save, Runde and Mwenezi – cut their courses through the Park, forming pools and natural oases from which hundreds of species of birds, wildlife and fish gather to feed and drink
